Objectives

Purpose

The purpose of a library is to freely disseminate knowledge. Our library is therefore operated o a need based approach rather than the usual rules-based treatment given to students everywhere. We allow open access to the collection, conduct book exhibitions and through information literacy programs we encourage students tgo read books and access e resources available online.

Library Membership


  1. Every year Library membership is given to students for one academic year.
  2. All teachers appointed are members of Library.
  3. Membership is also given to Non-teaching staff.
  4. Associate membership is also given to the staff of other colleges in the campus.
  5. Reference Service to Citizens

  1. For New I-Card
    • All the Students, who have taken admission in the college should take Membership of Library within one month .
  2. Please bring following document for New I-Cards

Library Rules

Rules for Teaching & Non-teaching Staff:

  1. To issue books at the beginning of the year, every member of the staff should have cleared all the library dues of the previous year.
  2. Every Teacher will be issued 25 books of her/his subject taught at a time.
  3. The Teacher, who is teaching Post Graduate subject, is entitled to get 10 more books.
  4. Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Hand Books, Year Books & other reference books/and rare books will not be lent outside library.
  5. Teachers who are interested in general reading such as novels, autobiographies are entitled to get 5 books of their choice.
  6. If text books are required for their ward, the staff should take prior permission of the Principal.
  7. Teachers/Staff are advised not to borrow books against their name for others.
  8. Library books such as novels, general readings should be returned within a week if demanded by others.
  9. Current issues of journals, newspapers are not for home lending.
  10. Multiple copies of the same book will not be issued.
  11. Teachers are permitted to bring their students in the library with the prior permission of the Librarian.
  12. List of books and journals required for a subject/course should be submitted through Head of the Department to the Library.

Rules for Students

  1. Show your Identity Card whenever you visit the library.
  2. Take proper care of all library resources.
  3. Write your name in the register / scan your I-card at the counter while entering in the library.
  4. Kindly switch off the mobile phone while you visit the library.
  5. Any personal belongings are not permitted into the library.
  6. Eatables are not allowed inside the library & reading hall.
  7. Use students' computer for searching required book.
  8. Students should return their book in given time period.

Reading Hall Rules.

  1. Keep Silence in the reading hall
  2. Eatables are not allowed.
  3. Every student must have his/her Identity Card while entering in the reading hall.
  4. Write your name in the register or Scan I Card while entering in the reading hall.
  5. Reading Hall timings will be extended during examinations with prior notice.
  6. Reading Hall will be kept open on 08.00 am to 6.00 pm during examinations.
  7. Magazines, Newspapers, Question Paper sets, Reference books are not allowed to take outside the library.
  8. Suggestion Box is kept at the counter in main library. Your objective and positive/healthy suggestions are welcome.
  9. Strict action will be taken for any misbehavior in the reading hall.
  10. Kindly switch off the mobile phone whenever you are in the reading hall.

Digital Library Rules

  1. Internet / Digital facility is for all students.
  2. Every student will get 1hr. for the use of Internet.
  3. Students must register their name & timing.
  4. Playing games, chatting, Downloading any pictures/ songs, videos & misuse of internet is not allowed.
  5. Do not save any material on PC.
  6. Printing/Downloading is allowed with prior permission of Librarian.
  7. Printing/Xeroxing will be provided on payment.
  8. Every newly admitted student should attend the Information Literacy Programme of library.
